Late December back in '95
She was everything I dreamed she'd be
What a baby what a night.
12 years ago, after 2 days of labor, lots of pitocin, an epidural, 3 hours of pushing, a vacuum extractor and a 3rd degree episiotomy, at 5:33 PM, my wonderful, lovely, intelligent, all around cool daughter Katherine was born.
It's been a great 12 years with lots of ups and a few downs and a smattering of rocky patches along the way.
For Katherine's birthday she wanted to go see National Treasure: Book of Secrets. It was great. We all agreed that it was even better than the first one. Just one caveat. Ed Harris speaks with a totally fakey-fakey southern accent. Here's my take on how he found his southern accent voice coach--
Ed Harris: "Hey, Nic. I noticed you had a rather distinctive southern accent in you blockbuster Con Air. I'd like to use your voice coach."
Nicolas Cage: "No problem, Ed. I've got his card right here. His name is Foghorn Leghorn."
I say, I say, the accent is funny when Foghorn does it. When actors do it trying to sound southern it's kinda grating. I live in the south, surrounded by southerners, and I've never, ever heard anyone talk with a Foghorn Leghorn accent.
OK, that's my rantlette for the day.
Nighty night y'all
Wendy
